How could someone not like the dissonant energy that is de Schmog? I saw them open for Special Beat at the Vatican in 92 and totally fell in love with them. After that I would see them every chance I got. At the Axiom (or Catal - I forget what it was called then), at Fitzgeralds, but mostly at Rudyards - when there was no upstairs - crowded into where the dart boards are now.

The last time that I saw then was at Rudz with Mimi in 97. She wasn't interested in them and the smoke was burning her eyes so it kinda drug the night down.

When I started going to shows in Houston again I would scour the Public News and the Press looking for their next show. I never saw any mention and so I assumed that they broke up. I eventually resigned myself to the fact that they were gone and I would never see them again.

Well. Last week I got an email from the Texas Guinness Lovers mailing list anouncing a de Schmog show for Sunday 2/20/2000. The subject of the email was "You might be interested to know...".

Of course I was there. I hung out with Roberto, his friend Michael (who recorded the show) and Claudio from the Suspects. I didn't feel like draggin my camera out so I bought a disposable one and took some pics. Somewhere I have a bunch of pics from an Axiom show in 92. They were much better and I will scan those and put them up very soon.
